Drawings

Ink and line

The correspondence of formal aspects of drawing, such as repetition, variation, and the gradual rise and fall of lines, forms a bridge to music as well as to the study of nature.

Abstraction is not the goal, but a means. And what remains is an essence of vitality that can speak of so much more.

Notation has interested me as a free, graphic means of communication. A medium that must be interpretable, and only then can it stimulate new systems of thought.

“Interspaces are important for composition… like pauses in a piece of music.” (Silvia Bächli)

“Repetition creates the difference.” (Eva-Maria Schön)

Natural Inks

I work with inks that I make myself from natural materials. These inks have unique, individual properties. They differ not only in color, but also in consistency, drying behavior, gloss, and flow characteristics. Some change color during the process, reacting with each other and/or with the paper surface. I see my working method as a field of artistic experimentation, in which I search for forms that give shape to the natural inks, revealing their inherent character.

Each ink I create possesses a temporal dimension; nothing remains as it is.

The vibrant berry red fades very gradually, the purple transforms into a deep blue in a matter of seconds, and a delicate beige from alder cones only becomes stronger and warmer when it manifests on the paper.
